Creating FireSafe environments for San Luis Obispo County.

Want to get involved?

What can I do?

Using fire-resistant building materials can protect your home from wildfires. Taking the necessary measures to harden (prepare) your home can help increase its likelihood of survival when wildfire strikes.. . .

Defensible space is the buffer you create between a building on your property and the grass, trees, shrubs, or any wildland area that surround it. Creating 100′ of defensible space around your home provides firefighters a safe area to work in, to defend your home...

Are you set with a wildfire action plan and emergency supply kit? Give your household the best chance of surviving a wildfire by being ready to go and evacuating early. Being ready to go also means knowing when to evacuate and what to do if you become trapped.

Will you be notified of an EVACUATION in your area?

We can help you!

What are we doing?

We seek out grant funding to sponsor projects that promote Fire Safe environments throughout San Luis Obispo County

Fire Prevention takes planning. We bring together communities to develop strategic plans with a common goal to create fire resilient County.

We are creating fuel reduction projects countywide. These projects create fuel breaks that provide a community FireSafe benefit.

CREATING DEFENSIBLE SPACE VIDEO

This free public information Video was produced to visually demonstrate things a resident of SLO County can do to defend from the effects of wildland fire.
